sometimes the hardest part of being a military girlfriend is not the relationship itself, it’s hearing what other people have to say. “you’re stupid for dating a soldier/i would never date a soldier/he’s cheating on you/long distance relationships don’t work.” not everyone can handle being in a relationship with a soldier, but i’m proud to say that i am a part of the few that can. it’s a huge sacrifice and commitment i chose to make. what’s most beautiful about our relationship is that it’s built on something stronger than going out every week on dates, sex, and close distance. the foundation of our relationship solely depends on love, trust, and communication. “distance means so little when someone means so much.” i don’t mind the distance, it’s temporary. our love for each other is will always be there. i found the person who i can put all of my trust in, who makes me happy, and who is always there for me no matter what i’m going through. i wouldn’t trade him for anything. not even for a civilian.
